Commemorating your dressing

Post by Charlene »

So you've primped and shaved, you're smooth all over, you've pulled up those oh so silky stockings and wiggled your toes into those decadently outrageously high heels, slipped the light, almost see-through dress over your head, adjusted your wig and touched up your lipstick. (sorry if I forgot the panties and bra in all that, but it was getting to be quite a long list....). Now there you are, opposite the mirror. Yeah, sexy as hell. What now? Take a drive maybe. Before you know it you're opposite a cute beauty spot where no one can see you. ('cos it's still winter, of course). You have to commemorate this momentous step. But how? Do you take pics with your phone at arms's length? With one of those extendable arms? Have you got a great digital camera with useful time delays? I'd love to know how people go about taking pics of themselves for posterity.....well?

I used a tripod with my digital SLR camera & took photos using the inbuilt timer. It was ok but a little hit and miss what with pressing the shutter & getting into position & posing within 10 seconds. These days, I use my phone. No selfie stick, but a tripod adapter for the phone, use the forward facing camera so I can see & adjust the pose. Then a wireless remote to click the shutter. The whole outfit can be got fairly cheaply.

I have a digital camera together with a small, bendy tripod (so small you can fit it into your pocket). The connector is a simple screw-fit and I'm very happy with it. It has a timer-delay of 2/5/10 secs which is also good for adapting your desired pose. Of course, choosing the 2secs delay by mistake, thinking it's the 10secs, can lead to some amusing results when your dress is disarranged and your wig lopsided.
Anyway, lately I've gone over to using my phone, which has no screw-fit available, but which has a fantastic camera - the trouble is attaching it to some kind of reliable stand. MichaelaJane, I went into that link you posted and found that it's a version of a tripod that's suitable but they're sold out (plus postage from the States, etc wouldn't make it worth it.). Anything else looks like I'd have to cannibalise it to make it fit my phone (maybe I should buy one and take it to the garage where they repair my car?)
I'm sure others have come up with a solution?

Charlene, tripod adapters are available from Amazon.co.uk too.

The remotes are too. I only posted the link for information as to the gear I use.

MichaelaJane, those are exactly the adapters I'm looking for - genius! Thanks a lot. I don't think I'll need to wrap the tripod round a tree branch, like in one of the instruction videos there, but it does open up tons of new opportunities!

These days my dressing up fun is limited to stays in hotels while away for work. My escapades are captured on my phone and a gopro for slo-mo moments ;) For the phone I have a bluetooth remote, or I can control it from a laptop, I take a tripod and clamp to grip the phone, also thinking of getting a diffused light too as the lighting in some modern hotels isn't that great for photography and plays havoc with slo-mo video.
If its lace, I love it
